Winter Fuel Payments

Winter Fuel Payments are different from Cold Weather Payments. Winter Fuel Payments are yearly one-off payments to help eligible people pay for their heating in the winter.
Winter Fuel Payments are paid to men and women who have reached the minimum age at which a woman can receive a state pension. They are not linked to temperature.
You may get a Winter Fuel Payment for winter 2011/12 if both the following apply:
you have reached the qualifying age (born on or before 5 January 1951)
you normally live in Great Britain or Northern Ireland on any day in the week of 19–25 September 2011

Cold weather payments

If you are on a low income, a Cold Weather Payment may be available to help you for each week of very cold weather in your area. If you are eligible, you don’t need to apply. The money will be paid to you automatically.

Ok it looks like winter is here with a vengeance, this is the time that your boiler condense pipes are going to freeze solid causing your boiler to stop working, if this happens to you, check the plastic pipe that comes from the bottom of your boiler and runs externally usually to a drain or waste pipe, pouring warm water, not boiling! Over this pipe will usually defrost it causing the the blocked water to run freely away and allowing your boiler to work correctly. If you still can’t defrost the pipe give us a call and we will be happy to help, our professional engineers can use a number of other options to get your heating up and running.
